dudududu

here comes the fishhead singing
here comes the baked potato in drag
here comes nothing to do all day long
here comes another night of no sleep
here comes the phone wringing the wrong tone
here comes a termite with a banjo
here comes a flagpole with blank eyes
here comes a a cat and a dog wearing nylons
here comes a machine gun saying
here comes bacon burning in the pan
here comes a voice saying something dull
here comes the story of the hurricane chucuchunnnn the man the authorities came to blame chucuchunnnn

i made a mistake

i reached up into the top of the closet
and took out a pair of blue panties
and showed them to her and
asked "are these yours?"

cows in art class

good weather
is like
good women-
it doesn't always happen
and when it does
it doesn't
always last.
man is
more stable:
if he's bad
there's more chance
he'll stay that way,
or if he's good
he might hang
on,
but a woman
is changed
by
children
age
diet
conversation
sex
the moon
the absence or
presence of sun
or good times.
a woman must be nursed
into subsistence
by love
where a man can become
stronger
by being hated.

Botas locas

tenía 20 años
y estaba borracho
a las 10 de la mañana
mirándose
en un espejo roto
en New Orleans
la casa soñadora
contra las
paredes
del mundo

¿y yo
adónde
fui?

The Genius Of The Crowd

there is enough treachery, hatred violence absurdity in the average
human being to supply any given army on any given day

and the best at murder are those who preach against it
and the best at hate are those who preach love
and the best at war finally are those who preach peace

those who preach god, need god
those who preach peace do not have peace
those who preach peace do not have love

beware the preachers
beware the knowers
beware those who are always reading books
beware those who either detest poverty
or are proud of it
beware those quick to praise
for they need praise in return
beware those who are quick to censor
they are afraid of what they do not know
beware those who seek constant crowds for
they are nothing alone
beware the average man the average woman
beware their love, their love is average
seeks average

but there is genius in their hatred
there is enough genius in their hatred to kill you
to kill anybody
not wanting solitude
not understanding solitude
they will attempt to destroy anything
that differs from their own
not being able to create art
they will not understand art
they will consider their failure as creators
only as a failure of the world
not being able to love fully
they will believe your love incomplete
and then they will hate you
and their hatred will be perfect

like a shining diamond
like a knife
like a mountain
like a tiger
like hemlock

their finest art

"(...)Me gusta pensar en toda esta gente que me enseñaron tantas cosas que yo nunca había imaginado antes, y me enseñaron bien, muy bien, cuando eso era tan necesario, me mostraron tantas cosas que nunca creí que fueran posibles. Todos esos amigos bien adentro de mi sangre, quienes, cuando no había ninguna oportunidad, me dieron una (...)"

8 count

from my bed
I watch
3 birds
on a telephone
wire.
one flies
off.
then
another.
one is left,
then
it too
is gone.
my typewriter is
tombstone
still.
and I am
reduced to bird
watching.
just thought I'd
let you
know,
fucker.

Weather Report

"(...) no puedo imaginar a la gente.
es difícil para mi imaginar a la gente.
quizá se sientan tan mal como yo o
casi tan mal.
me pregunto qué hacen cuando se sienten mal.
probablemente no hablan de éso.
dicen,
"mirá, está lloviendo".
es la mejor manera".

And you'll know what love is for, I'm a bluebird

no te pongas
triste.

luego lo vuelvo a introducir,
y él canta un poquito
ahí dentro, no le he dejado
morir del todo
y dormimos juntos
así
con nuestro
pacto secreto
y es tan tierno como
para hacer llorar
a un hombre, pero yo no
lloro,
¿lloras tú?

Charles Bukowski

For Jane

225 days under grass
and you know more than I.
they have long taken your blood,
you are a dry stick in a basket.
is this how it works?
in this room
the hours of love
still make shadows.
when you left
you took almost
everything.
I kneel in the nights
before tigers
that will not let me be.
what you were
will not happen again.
the tigers have found me
and I do not care.

True

one of Lorca's best lines
is,
"agony, always
agony ..."
think of this when you
kill a
cockroach or
pick up a razor to
shave
or awaken in the morning
to
face the
sun.

I met a genius

I met a genius on the train
today
about 6 years old,
he sat beside me
and as the train
ran down along the coast
we came to the ocean
and then he looked at me
and said,
it's not pretty.

it was the first time I'd
realized

that.

When I think of myself dead

I think of automobiles parked in a
parking lot

when I think of myself dead
I think of frying pans

when I think of myself dead
I think of somebody making love to you
when I'm not around

when I think of myself dead
I have trouble breathing

when I think of myself dead
I think of all the people waiting to die

when I think of myself dead
I think I won't be able to drink water anymore

when I think of myself dead
the air goes white

the roaches in my kitchen
tremble

and somebody will have to throw
my clean and dirty underwear

away.
